SUMMARY:

 

Perform a variety of low complexity shipping and receiving tasks; compare information on incoming or outgoing shipments; ensure shipping and receiving processes are consistent and conducted in a timely manner.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES

  • Performs the physical and administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing and distribution of materials, parts, supplies and equipment.

  • Unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of received goods and rejects unsatisfactory items.

  • Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped.

  • Posts weights and shipping charges and prepares goods for final shipment.

  • Examines stocks and distributes materials in inventory.

  • Import export shipping knowledge

  • Packaging of electronic assemblies 

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education a minimum of a high school diploma 

  • 3-5 years’ of experience in commercial shipping

  • Experience of military packaging and mil package standards is a plus

  • Certified forklift operator is a plus.

  • The ability to be trained to operate a forklift and scissor lift is a must

  • Communication skills: ability to receive messages by telephone, in person, electronically and in writing; ask questions and rephrase statements to clarify meaning; ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals; ability to speak effectively before groups and customers or employees of the organization; communicate across organizational levels; ability to communicate with quality, integrity and respect in a way that inspires others and encourages innovation and possibilities

  • Computer skills:  knowledge working in a networked environment using a Windows and/or Windows like interface using Power Point, Excel, Word and Outlook software programs;

  • Math & Analytical skills: basic to intermediate mathematical skills, ability to calculate basic figures; ability to collect, analyze and summarize information to a general understanding; ability to think abstractly and separate complex ideas into simple elements;

  • Time Management and organizational skills: flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments; ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Must be able to standing and/or walk for more than 4 hours per day OR on be on feet for long periods of time

  • Moderate physical activity.  Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds OR able to lift and manipulate heavy objects

  • Must have a valid driver’s license (operate company van)

  • Be willing to perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures and safety related standards

  • Willing to participate in continuous quality improvement objectives
